SELOUS GAME RESERVE

Selous is the largest Reserve in Africa and one of the largest in the world. Landscaped to perfection by nature’s hand it remains protected from human impact due to its remote and vast 50,000 km2 terrain. With its associated wetlands, lakes and swamps, it’s one of the most outstanding and unique ecological systems in the world. Due to this unique ecosystem the Selous Game Reserve is honored as a World Heritage Site. The reserve is named after Frederick Courtney Selous, British Officer, Explorer, Hunter and Conservationist who was born on 31 December 1851.

BEST TIME TO GO ON A SELOUS SAFARI

The best time to visit Selous is in the dry season between June and February. All the lodges close down their operations in the months of March and reopen in June.

Tanzania Selous Safari and Zanzibar Beach Holiday:

Day 1: Selous Wilderness Camp, Selous Game Reserve

Upon arrival at Dar es Salaam International Airport, transfer to domestic terminal for flight to Selous airstrip. Met on arrival – road transfer to the camp where you will enjoy a late afternoon lunch and boat safari where you can view the immense wildlife of the Rufiji River.

Days 2 , Day 3, Day 4: Selous Wilderness Camp, Selous Game Reserve

3 full days on this Tanzania Selous Safari in Selous Game Reserve with choice of two activities per day (or full day game drives in the Selous) either boat safari, walking safari or game drive.

Day 5 and Day 6: The Swahili House, Stone Town, Zanzibar

After breakfast enjoy a walking safari, transfer to airstrip to connect flight to Zanzibar. Met on arrival Zanzibar Airport, transfer to The Swahili House for 2 nights in Deluxe room on Bed and Breakfast

Day 7 – 9 : Unguja Lodge, Zanzibar

Transfer to Unguja Lodge, 3 nights in Sea-view Villa on Half-board basis (breakfasts and dinners)

Day 10 – Departure

Transfer to Zanzibar airport for a flight to Dar-es-Salaam to connect with your international flight.
